This application is not distributed through the Microsoft Store. Install the file you download from this page (.exe NSIS or .msi). The NSIS installer walks you through setup; the MSI suits managed deployments. When finished, QubKey appears in the Start menu.
Install from the installer
- Download the NSIS installer (64-bit or 32-bit) or the matching MSI package from the section above. When in doubt, use the x64 build.
- Double-click the downloaded file. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", see the SmartScreen section below before continuing.
- Follow the setup wizard (language, install folder, shortcuts). Approve UAC prompts if Windows asks for elevation.
- When done, launch QubKey from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. Use only this official page and the checksums below to confirm the file is genuine.
First run and SmartScreen
When you first run an application downloaded from the Internet that is not signed by a publisher Microsoft recognizes, Windows Defender SmartScreen may show a warning. This is expected for direct distribution: only run the installer if you downloaded it from this page and verified its SHA-256 checksum.
Microsoft Support — SmartScreen protection
On the warning screen, click "More info", then "Run anyway" if you verified the file checksum. You can also right-click the installer, open Properties, and check "Unblock" at the bottom of the General tab if that option is shown.
Verify the file checksum
In PowerShell, go to the folder that contains the downloaded installer, then run (adjust the file name):
The Hash column must match exactly the SHA-256 value on this page for the architecture you chose.
Advanced (if you are stuck)
We do not recommend disabling SmartScreen or antivirus permanently. If a block persists and the checksum matches, verify the file is not corrupted (re-download). In managed environments, your administrator may need to allow the executable explicitly.
